Privacy Policy

MindLounge.gg ("MindLounge", "we") is an independently developed, early-stage project, not a registered company. This page describes, in plain language, what data is actually collected when you use the site and why.

Account information

When you register, we store your email address, a securely hashed version of your password (never the password itself), and the display name you choose. This is used to identify your account, let you log in, and confirm your email address.

Authentication and session cookies

We use cookies that are strictly necessary for the site to function: keeping you logged in, protecting forms against cross-site request forgery, and remembering your language preference. These are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Game data

We store the games you play — chess and checkers, against bots or other users — including moves, results, and your rating. Guest sessions (playing without an account) are temporary and expire automatically after a short period; if you convert a guest session into an account, your rating carries over.

Forum content

Forum topics and comments you post are public and associated with your display name. Votes on posts and comments contribute to a karma score attached to your account, used to determine posting privileges.

Logs and security data

Like most web services, our servers automatically log technical information for security and reliability purposes — request paths, response codes, timestamps, and IP addresses used for abuse prevention (such as rate-limiting repeated failed login attempts). These logs are used operationally and are not sold or shared with advertisers.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads, measure their performance, and, where you have given consent, personalize them based on your activity across sites. Where required by local law (for example, in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), you may be shown a consent prompt before personalized ads are served; this consent flow is provided and managed by Google, not by a custom system built into this site.

Third-party service providers

We rely on infrastructure providers to run the site: Amazon Web Services (hosting, database, email delivery) and Google (advertising, as described above). These providers process data on our behalf under their own respective terms and security practices; we do not sell your personal data to any third party.

Data retention

Account and game data is kept for as long as your account is active. Guest session data expires automatically after a short, fixed period. Security logs are retained for a limited operational window and then discarded.

Your rights and contact

You can update your display name and password from your account settings, and delete your account entirely from the same page. If you have questions about your data or would like help with something the settings page doesn't cover, use the contact form.
